2009 Tax Preparation Info Guide
Please remember the Library staff can not answer tax questions. We can not help you decide which forms you are required to use or how to complete your tax returns.
The Library provides:
- some paper tax forms
- assistance in finding the forms
- general direction to sources that may provide you with the information you need to complete your tax returns
- access to AARP Tax-Aide.
Forms
Federal Taxes: Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
The Library (all locations) has received some of the most commonly used forms from the IRS. All forms and instructions are available from the IRS website
State Taxes: Georgia Department of Revenue(GDOR)
From the Department of Revenue's website:
"Effective this tax year, the Department of Revenue will no longer mail Individual Income Tax Booklets.
How does this benefit Georgia taxpayers?
Last year, at a cost exceeding $500,000, the Department printed 800,000 booklets, and mailed 550,000 of them directly to taxpayers. Our research found that only 28% of booklet forms were used to file returns. Therefore, in an effort to become more efficient and to reduce costs, we will no longer mail booklets except upon request. This change will result in 75% savings."
Tax booklets are available on GDOR website.
UPDATE January 14, 2010: A limited supply of State Tax booklets with instructions and forms have arrived at the Library - all locations.
